DNSD 2025 Convention Pierre, SD

 Dance Network of South Dakota 2025 Convention is happening Saturday/Sunday, October 25-26, 2024 at the Ramkota Hotel and Convention Center in Pierre, SD. 

Classes for ages 7 up through adult. Students and Teachers. Come learn from guest faculty instructors.

All registrations need to be done online.

🕺BILL WALDINGER

DNSD 2025 Convention Faculty Instructor Bio: Bill Waldinger

Bill Waldinger is a regular faculty member at The Joffrey Ballet School, Ballet Academy East, Broadway Dance Center (regular guest artist), New York Film Academy and the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. He has also taught at The Kanyok Arts Initiative, Molloy College’s CAP 21 Musical Theater Program, The Manhattan Ballet School (Director of Jazz), the contemporary company Cora Dance (Director of Ballet), and Hamilton Dance (Director of Ballet). Bill frequently travels the world as a guest teacher, teaching both classical Ballet and Jazz. Most recently he taught for the Irish National Ballet and the Phoenix Performing Arts College, both in Dublin, Ireland. In addition, he has developed absolute beginner “Dance Classes For Singers” at The Singers’ Forum. Certified by Luigi to teach the Luigi Jazz Technique, Bill has been interviewed and taught on camera for the feature film Uprooted, The Journey of Jazz which chronicles the history of Jazz Dance (this film currently streams on MAX). He has taught Luigi Jazz workshops for the New Rising Sun Dance Project at DANY Studios/Joyce SoHo and has coordinated workshops bringing together the techniques of Luigi and Matt Mattox with classic musical theater choreography.
As a performer, Bill has appeared in musical theater, concert dance, commercials, music videos, television and industrials. Highlights include regional and Off-Broadway productions of A Chorus Line (Paul in the first regional production), Carousel (Carnival Boy), Kismet, Drood, Oklahoma! (Dream Curly), A Funny Thing…, Guys and Dolls and Godspell. He was a company member of The David Storey Dance Works and the Labyrinth Dance Theater. He has danced in commercials for Time-Life, music videos for the group Fila-Antoine, was a featured dancer on the television show Soul Alive and appeared in videos for the Theater Dance Workshop.
Bill began his dance training with the legendary jazz master Luigi. Bill also studied jazz under Chris Chadman, Natasha Barron, Cecelia Marta, Richard Pierlon and Lynn Simonson. Bill studied ballet with Gabriella Darvash, Dick Andros, David Howard, Dorothy Lister and Douglas Wassell and modern dance with Bill Hastings and David Storey.

🕺JADELL LEE

DNSD 2025 Convention Faculty Instructor Bio: Jadell Lee

Jadell Lee is an international dance educator, published author, and TEDx speaker who brings a fresh perspective on life and leadership to audiences nationwide. He has served as an adjunct professor of dance at Seton Hill University, a two-time guest lecturer at Southern Utah University, a guest master instructor for the Abby Lee Dance Company, and the Assistant Director of CRU Dance Competition. In addition, he toured nationally as faculty with Thrive Dance Experience, Symposium Talent Contest, United States Tournament of Dance, Nexxus Dance Challenge, and Headliners Dance Competition.

Throughout his career, Lee has worked with artists such as American Idol Season 15 finalist La’Porsha Renae, actor and musician Jussie Smollett, and Dance Moms Season 8’s Sarah Georgiana. His expertise and advocacy have been highlighted by outlets including Yahoo, Thrive Global, and SiriusXM, where he has spoken on mental health and personal development.
As the CEO of Elevate Convention, Lee continues to impact the dance community while mentoring and developing both students and educators. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of California, Riverside, and remains dedicated to empowering the next generation of artists through technical excellence, creativity, and leadership.

💃 MADELEINE SCOTT

DNSD 2025 Convention Faculty Instructor Bio: Madeleine Scott

Madeleine Scott is the founder & artistic director of South Dakota Ballet. She was raised in Beresford, South Dakota & began dancing at a young age. She fell in love with ballet after taking her first class at Dance Gallery in Sioux Falls where she continued to train until the age of 12. At age 13, Madeleine moved to Philadelphia, PA to train full time at the Rock School after earning a scholarship from competing & placing at the world’s largest scholarship ballet competition; Youth America Grand Prix. Madeleine attended many professional ballet intensives throughout her early training including those of the School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Chautauqua Institute, Ellison Ballet & more. She also trained closely with ballet icons such as Gelsey Kirkland, Elena Kunikova & Patricia McBride.

In 2017, Madeleine earned her BFA in Ballet Pedagogy from the University of Utah. Madeleine has danced professionally with several companies including Ballet West, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, DanceAspen, Sacramento Ballet, LED Boise, Northern Ballet Theatre, & Yellowstone Ballet. As a part of DanceAspen, Madeleine performed at Vail Dance Festival in 2022, 2023, & 2024. In 2020, Madeleine co-founded Headlights Theater in Sioux Falls with Madison Elliott. During this time, Madeleine earned the title of “Performer of the Year” by 605 Magazine.

Throughout her career, Madeleine has performed works by internationally recognized choreographers such as George Balanchine, Matthew Neenan, Blake Krapels, Jamar Roberts, Penny Saunders, Yin Yue, Cayetano Soto, Ana Maria Lucacciu, Danielle Rowe, Caili Quan, & more.

Madeleine is passionate about creating meaningful experiences for young dancers across the state of South Dakota so that they can learn from professionals without having to go far from home. Madeleine is paving the way for South Dakota Ballet to develop into a full-time professional dance company that performs many times throughout the year presenting notable classical & contemporary ballet pieces for communities across the state. Madeleine strives to design a company that will become an example to others across the country, leading the future of ballet to a more inclusive culture and broadened vision for sustainable community impact.

Get ready to dance! Dance Network of South Dakota 2025 Convention in Pierre, SD is this Saturday and Sunday!

People can still register online even the day of (but better if before) so encourage others to come and not miss this! 

 The Dance Network of South Dakota 2025 Convention is happening Saturday/Sunday, October 25-26, 2026, at Ramkota Convention Center in Pierre, SD and we’re so excited to have you join us!

Classes available for ages 7 and up through adult. Students and Teachers.

Come learn from great guest instructors teaching a variety of dance techniques/styles. Jazz Funk & Jazz tech, Modern, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Contemporary Ballet, Luigi Jazz and Musical Theatre.

Check-In is Saturday morning 8:15-9am at Ramkota Convention Center. All registrations need to be done online. All times CT Central Time.

There will be information on the area in the check-in packet. Some information and links to resources in the area can be found on our website.

Dancers will receive their Class schedule in their packet and their class track at the check-in table.

Parents/Guardians/Teachers are responsible for students during the Saturday Lunch break (12:40-2:00pm). Lunch is on your own. There are places nearby that are walkable that would work for lunch break.

 Please make sure dancers have clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather that they can use when roaming outside and always go in groups with supervision.

🙋All groups will be together for the Faculty Instructors sharing about their dance journeys and careers and Q&A from 6-7pm Saturday. Parents & others welcome.

🧀 🍉 There will be Charcuterie and Fruit catered by Ramkota during the Instructors sharing starting at 6pm.

🪩 There is demand to have a showcase of some of what is learned during the convention. So on Sunday at 1pm CT, in addition to awarding scholarships (more info below), there will be some sharing of dance combos or choreography they learned. There is no fee to attend the showcase of dances learned during the convention.

𝓢𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓪𝓻𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓹𝓼

Each year there are scholarships awarded on Sunday at the end of the DNSD Convention. This year there are some additional generous ones.

📜 3 scholarships for a student, one from each of the three age groups are chosen to receive a scholarship that covers the registration cost for DNSD next year.
💃🕺🕺 The guest instructors help determine dancers that stand out for whatever reason. 🤩 It could be the dancers attitude and showing respect, showing effort and engagement, passion and artistry.

📜 Scholarship to the 2026 South Dakota Ballet summer intensive, awarded by Madeleine Scott, South Dakota Ballet founder & artistic director.

 Dress code for classes should be what is expected for a dance class in the style being taken. Base of Leotard and Tights, soft ballet slippers, other layers welcome such as ballet skirt, fitted shorts or leggings, (for male students fitted shirt and tights with fitted shorts or jogger style pant. Students may also bring other dancewear if they have them such as optional jazz shoes, half-sole, hip hop, (no tap this year).

Remember all are invited to come watch the end of convention Showcase and scholarships on Sunday at 1pm CT.

Any dance Teachers are highly encouraged to attend the DNSD Board meeting during the Saturday lunch break. Lunches are on your own. We will talk to teachers about possibilities where lunch meeting will be held. Hopefully parents or other chaperones are able to supervise students during lunch.

Registered teachers and adults are also free to float and attend any class regardless of level. They will have different colored wristbands. Please register online.

Some teachers prefer to do the class full out or prefer to mark, or observe and take notes–all are valid.
