The Dance Network of South Dakota 2024 Convention is happening Saturday/Sunday, November 9-10, 2024 in the Mueller Civic Center in Hot Springs, SD.
Classes for ages 8 and up through adult. Students and Teachers. Come learn from guest teachers specializing in Musical Theater, Contemporary, Jazz, Improv, and Technique.

Full Convention Registration (all classes included): $150
Drop-in Classes: $40 each or $80 for Musical Theatre
Classes for all students ages 8-adult and for teachers.

Adante Carter
DNSD 2024 Convention Faculty
🕺 ADANTE CARTER
Adante Carter is a creative based out of New York City. Originally from Rapid City, South Dakota he has worked internationally as a performer in over two dozen musicals.
Notably, he starred as Aaron Samuels in the Broadway 1st National Tour of ‘Mean Girls’, in which he worked closely with Tony award winning choreographer Casey Nicholaw and the comedic legend Tina Fey.
Recently, he was seen in ‘Here We Are’ directed by Joe Mantello (Wicked), and starred as Gabe in the Pulitzer Prize winning musical ‘Next to Normal’, along side illustrious Broadway Stars.
As an artist of all mediums he has appeared in numerous national commercials, television specials, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
He holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music Theatre from AMDA in Los Angeles, and has studied at Broadway Dance Center and at Ailey Extension.
Brenda Nepsund

💃 BRENDA NEPSUND
Brenda Nepsund is a teaching artist and professional performer in the Minneapolis community. She is currently a Principal Instructor at Creo Arts & Dance Conservatory in Minnetonka, MN. Brenda has taught throughout the region at various studios and universities since receiving a Bachelor of Science in Dance and Mass Media from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2014.
Brenda has performed with a variety of professional companies and artists including Concerto Dance, Zorongo Flamenco, Eclectic Edge Ensemble, Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater, Borealis Dance, LiRa Dance, Cynthia Gutierrez, and Karla Grotting. She grew up dancing at Black Hills Dance Centre in Spearfish, SD and Prima School of Dance in Rapid City, SD. Brenda is thrilled and humbled to be back in her home state moving with the next generation of talented artists!
Greta Sugai
DNSD 2024 Convention Faculty
💃 GRETA SUGAI
Greta Sugai was born and raised in Colorado and she specializes in guest teaching, choreographing and creating workshops across Colorado, as well as out of state. Just recently she has taught and choreographed in Los Angeles, Hawaii, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Wyoming, Arizona, North Carolina and more!
In 2015, Greta created her own dance company called Messengerz Dance Co. in which she led her company to New Zealand for a month to teach, and has since built partnerships there to return back to. She danced this past season as a principal dancer on Vitality the Company under Katie Hazard in Denver. Greta is also a competition judge and convention teacher and joined staff for Sheer Elite this past season traveling across the country.
Finally, she is loving working as an adjunct dance professor at Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, CO for their developing dance program and is on her 5th year being a professor. Greta cannot wait to see what’s ahead and the relationships that will form!

There is nothing happening Friday evening other than check-in 3-6pm so please explore what Hot Springs has to offer! There will be information on the area in the check-in packet. Also, near the bottom of this you will find the chamber website and other information.
Dancers will receive your Class schedule in their packet and their class track at the registration desk.
Observation Pass Fee for Parents and others who want to watch only: $30 one time for the weekend per person. You will receive a colored wristband.
All are welcome to the end-of-convention Showcase on Sunday in Mueller Civic Center in the theatre. There is no fee to attend the showcase of dances learned during the convention.
Parents/Guardians/Teachers are responsible for students during the Saturday Lunch break (12:15-1:30pm MT). Lunch is on your own.
Concessions may possibly be available. There are also places nearby that would work for lunch break.
All are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles.
Please make sure dancers have clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather that they can use when roaming outside and always go in groups with supervision.
Dress code for classes should be what is expected for a dance class in the style being taken. Base of Leotard and Tights, soft ballet slippers, other layers welcome such as ballet skirt, fitted shorts or leggings, (for male students fitted shirt and tights with fitted shorts or jogger style pant). Students may also bring other dancewear if they have them such as optional jazz shoes, half-sole, hip hop, (no tap this year).
Remember all, including family and friends, are invited to come watch the end of convention Showcase on Sunday from Noon-12:30 MT
Any dance Teachers are highly encouraged to attend the DNSD Board meeting during the Saturday lunch break. There will be some food provided for teachers in the meeting so please come. Lunches are on your own for all other attendees. Hopefully parents or other chaperones are able to supervise students during lunch.
Registered teachers are also free to float and attend any class regardless of level. They will have different colored wristbands. Please register online.
Some teachers prefer to do the class full out or prefer to mark, or observe and take notes–all are valid.
