Important Information for 2023 Convention
Get ready to dance! Dance Network of South Dakota 2023 Convention in Sioux Falls is coming up!
The Dance Network of South Dakota 2023 Convention is happening Saturday/Sunday, November 4-5, 2023 and we’re so excited to have you join us!
The 2023 DNSD Convention will be held in downtown Sioux Falls at the Orpheum Theater Center and Anne Zabel Studio Theatre. https://www.siouxfallsorpheum.com/

Registration is Saturday morning 8-9am (all times CT).
There is nothing happening Friday evening so explore what Sioux Falls has to offer!
The registration table should be staffed throughout the convention for drop-ins and additional assistance. Dancers will receive your Class track at the registration desk.
Observation Pass Fee for Parents and others who want to watch: $30 one time for the weekend per person. You will receive a colored wristband.
All are welcome to the end-of-convention Showcase on Sunday at the theatre. There is no fee to attend the showcase of dances learned during the convention.
Parents/Guardians/Teachers are responsible for students during the Saturday Lunch break. Lunch is on your own.
Theatre concessions may possibly be available. There are also places within a several block radius that would work for lunch break.
All are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles.
Please make sure dancers have clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather that they can use when roaming downtown and always go in groups with supervision.
Dress code for classes should be what is expected for a dance class in the style being taken.
Q&A with the 2023 Convention Faculty Instructors will be in the theatre Saturday at 3:30pm after classes are done for the day. All are invited..
This will be an opportunity to ask questions about things such as how the faculty instructors got into dance, teaching dance, their dance careers, and any questions you are curious to learn! Read the Faculty bios on the website and check out their social media if you want to get inspiration for questions.
Following the Q&A that will be from 3:30-4pm there will be a pizza/dance party and mingle 4-5:30pm
Remember all are invited to come watch the end of convention Showcase on Sunday from Noon-12:30 CT
Teachers are welcome/encouraged to attend the DNSD Board meeting during the Saturday lunch break. Hopefully parents or other chaperones are able to supervise students during lunch.
There will be a signup at the registration table for teachers to request lunch (probably Jimmy Johns) so we can eat while we meet.
Registered teachers are also free to float and attend any class regardless of level. They will have different colored wristbands.
Some teachers prefer to do the class full out or prefer to mark, or observe and take notes–all are valid.
This year’s faculty are:
- Madison Rose Jordan, Madison is a dancer, instructor, and choreographer. She was top 6 on So You Think You Can Dance season 16 and toured across the country performing with the top 10.
- Jarrod Paulson, Jarrod is a dancer, instructor, and choreographer. He was featured on Glee and ’So You Think You Can Dance’ season 16.
- Laura Van Riper, Laura is a choreographer and costume designer.

💃 MADISON ROSE JORDAN
Madison is a dancer, instructor, and choreographer based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She trained at Larkin Dance Studio from the age of 3. After high school she went on to dance for the University of Minnesota’s dance team, where she played a role in winning a double national championship.
Madison continued her passion for dance and made top 6 on So You Think You Can Dance season 16 and toured across the country performing with the top 10.
She has also appeared on The Ellen Degeneres show and America’s Got Talent. She lived in Los Angeles pursuing a professional dance career, while being signed with Bloc Talent Agency.
Madison is currently living in Minnesota as a full time staff member of Larkin Dance Studio and a company member for Crash Dance Productions, a professional, contemporary dance company based in the Twin Cities.
She also travels around the U.S. teaching and choreographing for other competitive studios and judges for dance competitions such as Showbiz Dance Competition.

LAURA VAN RIPER

💃 LAURA VAN RIPER
Laura Van Riper is a Choreographer + Costume Designer based in Minneapolis, MN. She is a teacher at Larkin Dance Studio and the founder of LVR Designs Dancewear.
As a young dancer, Laura grew up training in Minnesota under the direction of Julia Levina. She holds a B.S. in Apparel Design from the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation, Laura moved to New York City to pursue a life in the arts. She worked for designer Wes Gordon and taught at the Summer Dance Program at Ballet Academy East.
Laura has been seen performing for Benefit Cosmetics on E! Fashion Police, The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Dance Challenge, and has toured with Break The Floor Productions as a dance photographer.
Laura believes that with clear intention, discipline, and integrity anything is achievable.
Jarrod Paulson

🕺 JARROD PAULSON
Jarrod is a dancer, instructor, and choreographer based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He has been dancing since he was 10 years old, beginning his training at Larkin Dance Studio. After high school Jarrod lived in Los Angeles for 5 years pursuing a professional dance career, partaking in many dance related projects including working with the production ’Glee’, touring across the world with the circus, and being featured on ’So You Think You Can Dance’ season 16.
Crash Dance Productions, a professional, contemporary dance company based in the Twin Cities, has been a part of Jarrod’s life for the past 8 years.
He has also been teaching at Larkin Dance Studio as a full time staff member for the past 6 years.
Jarrod enjoys traveling across the U.S. teaching and choreographing for other competitive studios.
